I must confess, I love the pictures of the Horses, as I find them majestic. I love to read, but the beauty in the photos speak to me. I love that you are so open and honest with your feelings, and with the way you treat these beautiful creatures. I haven't had much to do with blogs until recently, but now I can see that it can be a legacy, and a story for my family. Thank you for sharing this with me!

Well, well - finally! Some horse friends!! Yeah, Amandak - it probably should do just that. When my daughter wanted that first horse, I though, "How hard could it be to own one?" I'd wanted one all my life anyway, and my parents never even considered it, not for a single breath of a moment. It was my dream. My best dream. But boy, was I naive. Work, work, work - love, terror, worry and a great deal of wonder and peace. Complicated thing, having a horse. Not like you can stick it in the backyard. And you really have to have two, because a single horse is a crippled, blind creature. You have to have one to eat while one watches out. But I've never looked back. With all five of these dudes - including Mr. Spunk pants colt who we've finally ridden once. Members of the family. Very heavy members of the family.

And Anna - what a delight to have you here. Thanks for the votes, guys. I have to look those shots over again more carefully.

Funny. Suspenseful. And I liked it. No wonder you are such a good writer! (And horse lover)

P.S. #2 is better than #3, which is better than #1. It's all about the lighting.

I guess I was up in the night when I thought maybe somebody'd read this blog and find some help or commonality in it. I'm enjoying it, though - as a way of remembering. Wish I was more useful than that, though -

It's evening now, and the smoke from the fires has cleared a bit. Less like an oven outside.

Hope for a better morning

When I went over early Sunday morning after my meeting to give them a bite of hay, Jetta was still gimping about in the the Jail, but everybody else seemed pretty light on their feet. It was a surprise to see the trailer and suburban way off in the far corner of the arena.
